Dry-Sone Walls and Rural Architecture

DESCRIPTION

In the Alta Murgia area, the skilful hands of farmers and shepherds have created a dense web of rural artefacts, representative of the unique Murgia landscape.

Dry stone walls and rural architecture tell the story of the millennial relationship between man and the environment and are among the most important geosites that contributed to the launch of the candidacy for Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark.

The function of dry-stone architecture is related to agriculture and pastoralism carried out sustainably, soil conservation and water supply.
