DESCRIPTION
The Curtomartino Cave is located in the territory of Acquaviva delle Fonti. It is among the best-known tourist karst cavities in Apulia and its formation dates back 2 million years, the subject of study for Italian and foreign researchers. Rich in stalactites and stalagmites, it is an easily accessible horizontal cave that has provided shelter for humans since the Upper Paleolithic.
Water springs in the depths of the earth have shaped the landscape and given the municipality of Acquaviva its name, thus becoming an identity element. The town is indeed dotted with wells in the streets, squares and several buildings in the historic center.
